Starting a Business: Reluctant? I understand...

The idea of starting a business can be very exciting and give an overwhelming chill of joy. However, most people will never take their ideas, dreams and/or goals and pursue them. Why is that? I will be the first to tell you, because it's HARD!!!!

When you have years of experience mastering your skill set and then you, your friends, family, co-workers, clients, or partners ask that encouraging question: "Have you ever thought of owning your own business? You would be really good at it!" You suddenly realize the impact you have on the stakeholders of the organization and the years of revenue you are directly responsible for; the idea of starting a business has moved to the forefront of morning thoughts. Every day at work, that task you just completed or client success story dedicated to your commitment of excellence; remind you more and more of how you can control your own destiny and repeat the same results within your business. You imagine the feeling of implementing your best practices that your employer will never implement, earning your first client, and the excitement of autonomy. You decide to move forward! You now have 2 options...

You either jump into an opportunity and learn on the fly or you start to analyze and seek guidance from trusted advisors. If you are anything like me, you meet with advisors and potential mentors and you have hit a brick wall. All of the things you never thought about from legal terms and conditions, insurance, contracts, business services, websites, compliance, certification, business entities, branding, marketing materials, and the list goes on. You are deflated and have delayed the start of your business.

This is where the rubber meets the road and you decide to either do what is comfortable and continue your role at your employer or you accept the nerve wrecking change and journey into scary business forest. I SAY DO IT!!! When you make a career move from one company to another, you have worries but I'm sure you made the move. So just DO IT!

My advice, as a new business owner, pick the right team of trusted advisors and initial employees. It will make the difference for your brand!
